Custom typeface
Bascule Display is a custom typeface born from a passion for typography and urban design, serving as a self-initiated project to delve deeper into the practice of type design.
Drawing inspiration from architectural structures, I aimed to impose practical and aesthetic constraints, not only challenging myself to craft something new but also incorporating cultural significance into the design. To achieve this, the entire typeface is rooted in a segment of a bridge's construction that captivated me aesthetically, seemingly a great foundation for developing a system. The segment, traditionally utilized as a support to uphold this particular bridge, serves as a metaphorical framework upon which I've built a grid, meticulously fashioning each glyph to collectively form a recognizable alphabet.

The result is a distinctive display typeface that demonstrates how visual communication can borrow influences from other creative disciplines, fostering innovative methods to enrich the graphic designer's toolbox. With Bascule Display as a first successful case study, I aspire to continue experimenting, aiming to create an extensive collection of systematic designs following this principle.
